The American Day is a unique,
engaging, and dynamic event that will be held on Wednesday, 13th April 2016 in the ESPRIT school of engineering. First year’s students will organize this event as well as participate in it by working in teams and providing the necessary materials to be displayed.
Goals and objectives: The primary goal of this event is to
strengthen students’ engagement with leaning the English
language. Also, this will enhance their awareness and appreciation of an unfamiliar culture. Hence, this culturally responsive event aims to teach students that difference in viewpoint and culture are to be appreciated rather than judged. This event is a chance to open the student’s eyes to a more diverse country, community and culture that textbooks could not demonstrate.
The students’ participation in this particular event is a chance to deepen their understanding of the American society, culture and
values as they are going to present its several aspects from the 1910s to the 2000s. Students will present the outline of US history through these decades by displaying several sections and themes.
